Dr. Jutta Häser has been director of the German Protestant Institute in Amman since 2004. She studied Near Eastern Archaeology, Cuneiform Studies and Prehistory in Göttingen, Århus (Denmark) and Berlin. She specialises in settlement and landscape archaeology, ancient water management systems and the application of remote sensing data in archaeology.
Dr. Häser formerly worked as research assistant and chief editor in the Orient Department of the German Archaeological Institute in Berlin. She has conducted research projects in Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Italy and Germany. She directs the "Gadara Region Project" together with Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter Vieweger, director of the German Protestant Institute of Archaeology. This project focuses on the research of the Wadi el-Arab and the excavation of Tall Zira'a in Northern Jordan.
