As a result, the library specialises in 19th century literature, of which it has a large and comprehensive collection, including many rare items. In addition, various areas such as Biblical studies, historical and applied geography, and the archaeology of the Middle East are covered, as well as the history of the Crusades and the Islamic period in the Holy Land. An important aspect for research purposes is the fact that the majority of the library’s collection is in German. This enables it to play an important role in completing and enriching the international scholarly resources available in Israel.

Catalogue

The library’s collection is accessible in our online catalogue, which is updated quarterly. For information about the focus of the collection, the library structure and journal index can also be used.

If you do not live in Jerusalem, but urgently need an essay or some other text, our document service might be useful to you. For a small charge, we will scan and mail you the necessary pages, usually within 48 hours.

The library is open Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm; Friday 9 am to 1 pm. Individual opening hours can be arranged by special request. The library is reference-only. However, a copier and connection points for laptops are available.
