The secret of the tell

The secret of the tell

It tells the exciting story of two children from Cologne, Katia and Aaron, who travel to Palestine. There they encounter both the current problems and the great past of the Middle East. Her grandfather – a retired archaeologist – leads her to “his” Tell. Many layers of towns and villages lie on top of each other on such a settlement mound. Katja and Aaron help with the excavation and make exciting discoveries. With the help of Lina, a young archaeologist, they delve into the secrets of the world three millennia ago. An entire city spreads out before them with workshops, a school, a temple and much more. There is also a treasure in the book… A book for reading aloud and reading to yourself, browsing and playing.

Adventure Jerusalem

How old is Jerusalem? Why did Nebuchadnezzar lay siege to the city? Where is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre? Did the German emperor actually have the city wall torn down? Since when have Jews and Arabs lived in Jerusalem? 12-year-old Aaron visits his grandparents in Jerusalem, the city that is home to three major world religions. He writes about his experiences there in his weblog, which you can read here: He wades through the old water tunnels under the city, climbs the battlements of the city wall or suddenly believes himself to be in the middle of the battlefield when Jerusalem falls into the hands of its conquerors. There is only one thing that can be even more beautiful: strolling through the city’s alleyways yourself … This richly illustrated book takes you through the 4000-year history of Jerusalem in a clear and exciting way and reveals the most adventurous events of this city full of secrets.

Adventures in Jerusalem is published by Gütersloher Verlagshaus. Here you will find more information and a sample of the book.
