How to reach us in Jerusalem
The Jerusalem Institute has been housed in the “Cana’an House” of the Auguste Victoria Compound on the Mount of Olives since 1982. The bell tower of the Evangelical Church of the Ascension provides a small landmark from afar.

By bus from West Jerusalem
From the Central Bus Station in western Jerusalem, take bus line 68 towards “Mesof Har HaZofim.” After about a 35-minute ride, the bus will arrive at Hebrew University on Mount Scopus. Other bus lines run from other parts of West Jerusalem to the final stop at Hebrew University on Mount Scopus.
From the terminus, walk south down Martin Buber Street. After 300 meters, you will see the Auguste Victoria Compound on the left-hand side of the street. From there, it is about a three-minute walk to the institute. From the main gate of the Auguste Victoria Compound, walk toward the hospital and the Church of the Ascension. Keep to the left and follow the signs on the compound. The institute is located on the eastern slope of the compound.
By bus from East Jerusalem
From the Arab bus station on Sultan Suleiman Street opposite Damascus Gate, take line 275 towards “Mount of Olives.” After about ten minutes (two official stops), the large buses stop directly at the entrance to the Auguste Victoria Compound. However, you should inform the bus driver of your destination beforehand. Without this information, the bus will take a different route. From the main gate of the Auguste Victoria Compound, walk towards the hospital and the Church of the Ascension. Keep to the left and follow the signs on the compound. The institute is located on the eastern slope of the compound.
Please note that Arab buses also stop away from official bus stops to pick up and drop off passengers.
By cab
Upon request, Nesher taxis will take you directly to the Auguste Victoria Compound. From the main gate of the compound, it is about a three-minute walk to the institute.
Before getting into a taxi, ask how much the ride will cost. A ride from Damascus Gate to the Auguste Victoria Compound costs about 60 to 80 NIS with a Nesher taxi.
You can use the “Gett” app to order a taxi online.
